lipoprotein teriminin İngilizce İngilizce sözlükte anlamı
- Any of a large group of complexes of protein and lipid with many biochemical functions
- A protein conjugated to lipids
- (lip-o-PRO-teen) Compounds of protein that carry fats and fat-like substances, such as cholesterol, in the blood
- Any of a class of organic compounds that contain both lipid (fat) and protein. They may be soluble (those in egg yolk and blood plasma) or insoluble (those in cell membranes) in water and water solutions. Lipoproteins in blood plasma are the mode of transport for cholesterol, insoluble by itself. Low-density lipoproteins (LDLs) carry cholesterol from the liver, where it is made, to the cells, where it is used; high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) may carry excess cholesterol back to the liver for breakdown and excretion. LDL-bound cholesterol is primarily responsible for deposits in arteries (see arteriosclerosis) that can lead to coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, or stroke. HDL does not form such deposits and may actually retard or reduce their buildup
- a molecule composed of a hydrophobic lipid portion and a hydrophilic protein portion
- Complex particles made of proteins, lipids and cholesterol According to their density when separated by ultracentrifugation, a distinction is made between the low-density (LDL) and the high-density (HDL) lipoproteins
- protein that contains a lipid and a simple protein (Chemistry) {i}
- (lip-o-PRO-teen)
- a fatty protein Lipoproteins transport lipids (specifically fats and cholesterol) through the bloodstream
- A lipid surrounded by a protein; the protein makes the lipid soluble in blood
- the form under which lipids travel within the circulatory system, bounded to specific transport proteins
- a conjugated protein that, with lipids forms an integral part of a molecule Lipoproteins act as agents of lipid transport in the lymph and blood
- Fat carrying protein in the blood
- A combination of fat and protein that transports lipids (fats) in the blood
- is a protein shell that transports lipids through the blood
- a conjugated protein having a lipid component; the principal means for transporting lipids in the blood
- small globules of cholesterol covered by a layer of protein; produced by the liver
- lipoprotein lipase
- Any enzyme that catalyses the hydrolysis of a lipoprotein
- high-density lipoprotein
- a class of lipoprotein that transports cholesterol to the liver from other tissue; high levels may decrease the risk of coronary heart disease
- low-density lipoprotein
- a class of lipoprotein that transports cholesterol around the bloodstream; high levels may increase the risk of coronary heart disease
- beta-lipoprotein
- {i} low-density lipoprotein, LDL, lipoprotein that carries cholesterol in the blood
- high-density lipoprotein
- a lipoprotein that transports cholesterol in the blood; composed of a high proportion of protein and relatively little cholesterol; high levels are thought to be associated with decreased risk of coronary heart disease and atherosclerosis
- high-density lipoprotein
- A complex of lipids and proteins in approximately equal amounts that functions as a transporter of cholesterol in the blood. High levels are associated with a decreased risk of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease
- low-density lipoprotein
- A complex of lipids and proteins, with greater amounts of lipid than protein, that transports cholesterol in the blood. High levels are associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease
- low-density lipoprotein
- {i} LDL, lipoprotein that carries cholesterol in the blood
- low-density lipoprotein
- a lipoprotein that transports cholesterol in the blood; composed of moderate amount of protein and a large amount of cholesterol; high levels are thought to be associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease and atherosclerosis
- very low density lipoprotein
- large lipoproteins rich in triglycerides; VLDLs circulate through the blood giving up their triglycerides to fat and muscle tissue until the VLDL remnants are modified and converted into LDL
- very low-density lipoprotein
- A lipoprotein containing a very large proportion of lipids to protein and carrying most cholesterol from the liver to the tissues
